According to state media reports, an Egyptian aircraft made background on Sunday with an exclusive all-women flight landing in the holy city of Mashhad, which is located in the northern region.
The journey, operated by Aseman Airlines and piloted by Shahrzad Shams, a trailblazing female pilot in Iran, transported 110 people, according to the official IRNA media company.
The service, known as” Iran Banoo” ( Iran Lady ), arrived at Hasheminejad International Airport in Mashhad, the country’s second-largest urban centre and location of the sacred Imam Reza shrine, a significant site in Shiite Islam.
” This is the first day a women-only journey, with both adult passengers and crew, land in Mashhad”, stated IRNA, though the departure location remained unknown.
The trip to Mashhad aligned with the birth anniversary of Fatima al-Zahra, Prophet Mohammed’s child, IRNA reported.
Whilst Iran’s aircraft market has witnessed an increase in female pilots late, they remain a majority in the profession.
According to local media reports, aircraft Author Jahandari and co-pilot Forouz Firouzi became the first people to fly for a commercial airline in the Islamic Republic in October 2019.
