Asma al-Assad, the spouse of ousted Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, has filed for divorce and wants to travel to London, according to the Jerusalem Post, which cited Turkey and Arab press.
She is said to have filed the plea in a Russian court and is awaiting approval to relocate to the UK after complaining about living in Moscow.
Asma spent her early years with her Syrian parents in London, where she received two British-Syrian citizen. She moved to Syria in 2000, and she wed Assad the following month, at the age of 25, according to the BBC. While working at JP Morgan as a British-Syrian Sunni Muslim, she met Assad while he was studying in London.
The former first lady of Syria even experienced health issues after two cancers brushes. After overcoming breast cancers in 2019, she was reportedly diagnosed with cancer in May of this year.

Bashar al-Assad is facing restrictions because he was denied hospital in Russia, according to reports of divorce. He is unable to abandon Moscow or engage in political activities. Russian officials have frozen his property, which apparently include 270 pounds of platinum,$ 2 billion, and 18 Moscow flats.
Bashar al-Assad was removed from power in early December by rebel forces under Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham ( HTS ) leadership. The Baath government, which Assad led, held power for 61 times.
