Bangladesh is awaiting an answer from India regarding its demand to extradite former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, according to the foreign affairs department on Tuesday. A warning will be issued if no answer is received. Although Bangladesh and India’s extradition agreement does not describe a time-frame for actions, government spokesman Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said Dhaka is prepared to take the next step if India does not answer within a “reasonable” time frame.
Apurba Jahangir, the Bangladesh key attorney’s deputy press minister, said that Mahfuz’s Facebook post was wholly his personal opinion in response to India’s outcry over important time state aide Mahfuz Alam remarks, in which he had said India should acknowledge the uprising that forced Hasina to retire. In another article, which was afterwards deleted, Mahfuz had claimed that certain Indian lands should be part of Bangladesh. ” He after posted a clarification”, Apurba said, asserting that the feedback did not reflect the govt’s place.
