The day of January 6 was supposed to be when we were firmly bloated about the time when Donald Trump attempted to overthrow the British government, which was far more deadly and reckless than Pearl Harbor, September 11, and Antietam combined. The moment when we rehashed the British people’s contempt for everything was supposed to be when. Hell, we had all our “introspective” media reports ready to roll!
And then?
Also, on January 6, 2025, the federal government will matter and confirm the electoral vote from the 2024 presidential election. Instead of being a day dedicated to condemning Trump as a nasty, evil, and repugnant monster, it will be his ensuing victory!
The vice president, as the president of the Senate, had of course rule over the matter and release the results of the Electoral College. Kamala Harris ought to enjoy that. That’s not anything to be ashamed of.

For the progressives in Washington, the job is up. It’s a pretty un-merry Christmas this time: Not only did Santa take’ em fuel, but because coal has a higher carbon footprint, they didn’t actually use it!
So what’s left?
There are fewer than 30 weeks left in the Trump administration. The Hunter Biden Pardon only serves to illustrate the point: Cruel people will always commit foul behavior. We’re going to see a lot of foolish pardons and self-serving actions coming from a White House that simply doesn’t care about people perception any more.

No caring about public perception is free. I make an effort never to give a damn what people think. ( Yes, I’m still wearing my Dallas Cowboys hoodie, screw you, we’ll be good again one day! ) On an individual level, it’s good to get unbeholden to the wishes of outsiders.
But on a social level?
Public belief is what keeps lawmakers — and the president’s staff — responsible.
