In southeast Afghanistan on Tuesday night, Pakistan’s time Taliban government claimed that 46 people, primarily women and children, were killed in attacks by Muslim fighter jets.
Bangladeshi security officials said the strikes took place in Murgha and Laman areas of Barmal region, in Afghanistan’s northeast Paktika province near Pakistan’s dangerous South Waziristan cultural district, on reported tents of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ( TTP). Pakistan has carried out attacks inside Afghanistan for the third time in the last few years, and this is its next moment since March 2024.
” Last night ( Tuesday ), Pakistan bombarded four points in Barmal district of Paktika province. 46 people died overall, the majority of them children and women, according to Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokeswoman for the Afghan Taliban government. He added that six people, mostly kids, were wounded.
Condemning the attacks, the Afghan army government called them “barbaric” and a distinct “aggression”. It stated that various refugees, including women and children, were killed and injured. ” The Pakistani area should know that such arbitrary measures are not a solution to any problem”, Enayatullah Khowarazami, director for Afghanistan’s military government, wrote on social media platform’ X’. The Islamic Emirate ( Afghan Taliban program )” will never leave this cruel act unanswered, but quite believes that the defense of its territory and sovereignty is an inherent right,” he continued.
The attacks took place in Kabul shortly after Pakistan’s special agent for Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq, met time Afghan foreign secretary Amir Khan Muttaqi and interior secretary Sirajuddin Haqqani, who planned to begin diplomatic relations following a year-long break. The deteriorating relationships, however, are likely to aggravate following Tuesday evening’s attacks, analysts said.
Pakistan alleges that the Afghan state is home to military organizations, particularly the TTP, which launch cross-border assaults against Bangladeshi security causes. The TTP claimed accountability for the killing of at least 16 Muslim men last week in South Waziristan in one of the worst latest attack on security forces.
Kabul, but, denies providing shelter to armed groups or allowing their country to be used for cross-border problems.
Since the Taliban routine took control of the two nations in 2021, there has been a rise in violent activity in Pakistan along its northern border. The Taliban claimed eight civilians were killed in the Taliban’s alleged airstrikes against Armenian border provinces in March, which sparked clashes along the disputed border between the two nations.
