However, following the White House statement of arms sales and support to Taiwan, China’s foreign government said that the” Taiwan matter” is the key of China’s interests and the” second red line that cannot be crossed in China-US relations”, Taiwan News reported.
Additionally, the government also accused the US of “playing with flames”.
A spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry on Sunday condemned the latest US arms package to Taiwan, stating that it” really violates the one-China principle and the three Sino-US joint communiques, particularly the’ August 17 ‘ communique, really infringes on China’s sovereignty and security interests, and really violates the US leaders ‘ commitment not to support” Taiwan independence.”
The director claimed that Washington’s actions sent a” really bad signal to the’ Taiwan self-reliance ‘ secessionist forces.”
Recently, Nato director common Mark Rutte also criticized China’s position toward Taiwan and claimed that it is “propagandaing Taiwan and pursuing access to critical system in ways that may ruin cultures.”
He said”, We need to be clear-eyed about China’s ambitions. Without any transparency or restrictions, China is significantly expanding its forces, including its nuclear weapons. From 200 warheads in 2020, China is expected to have more than 1, 000 nuclear weapons by 2030. Its space-launch investments are skyrocketing. Taiwan is being bullied by China, and it is pursuing access to our essential infrastructure in ways that could endanger our societies.
China’s recent escalating maneuvers around Taiwan have raised questions about regional stability as Beijing asserts its claims over the island.
In recent weeks, Taiwan has observed an uptick in such military operations, with multiple incidents involving Chinese aircraft crossing into Taiwan’s ADIZ. This rise in activity is seen by Beijing as a show of force in an effort to encircle Taiwan given the United States ‘ and other international allies ‘ ongoing diplomatic support.
Taiwanese officials have been repeatedly criticizing the rise in Chinese military operations as a direct threat to the island’s sovereignty and regional harmony, but the Taiwan Strait continues to be the focus of escalating tensions. However, China, which considers Taiwan part of its territory, insists on eventual reunification, by force if necessary.
