After falsely accusing the bad Sriram Krishnan of giving to Vice President Kamala Harris ‘ plan, far-right social activist Laura Loomer accidentally found herself at the center of an awkward Twitter surprise. Her message, aimed at undermining the legitimacy of President-elect Donald Trump’s AI assistant candidate, immediately unraveled as a glaring misstep.
The claim that backfired
In her now-infamous post on X ( formerly Twitter ), Loomer wrote:” Hey Sriram Krishnan, what is this? Less than a month before the 2024 Presidential election, why did you contribute to Kamala Harris ‘ plan? You didn’t actually voting for Trump… Now you want to penetrate his admin”?
Alas, Laura Loomer was referring to a different Sriram Krishnan, a name that’s when popular as John Doe in Silicon Valley. A unique Sriram Krishnan was the subject.
Called out by the software universe
David Sacks, a notable tech entrepreneur and Trump’s AI king, was one of the first to criticize Loomer’s error. ” It’s a different person with the same name. You might even be aware that he is a VC at a unique company if you knew everything about technology. Have you but to tell the President? Maybe it’s time to quit with this campaign before you embarrass yourself additionally”, Sacks quipped.
Additionally, X’s Community Notes have made it clear that the person tagged by Loomer had no connection to Trump’s AI assistant, adding insult to injury.
The online responds
Users of social media sites wasted no time blatantly criticizing Loomer for her problem. One user mocked, “Laura is such a sad excuse for an investigative journalist. Jumping to conclusions for clickbait and then getting a smackdown from someone who knows what he’s talking about.”
Another went even further, publishing:” It’s a different person with the same title. However, your neurons also suffer when body pieces are filled with plastic. Happy you are neighborhood noted”.
Sriram Krishnan, who was accidentally tagged, joined the fun by blogging,” I may perhaps simply exhibit up at the White House on January 20th, and claim a desk.
This created a new wave of gags:
” This is such a humorous change. What a humiliation for her. Funnily sufficiently, the message is still there. I thought she had remove it after clarity”, one person wrote,
” Dude, don’t talk to the naysayers. They don’t know creativity and maintaining the lead”, another said.
Who is the true Sriram Krishnan?
The highly successful Indian-American businessman and general companion at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz is the true Sriram Krishnan nominated by Trump as an AI consultant. Known for his leadership responsibilities at Snap, Facebook, Twitter, and Microsoft, he has a Bachelor of Technology from SRM Engineering College in India and co-hosts The Aarthi and Sriram Show with his family, Aarthi Ramamurthy.
Loomer’s protection falls level
Despite being called out by both professionals and society notes, Loomer’s initial tweet remains life, fueling further ridicule. Her failure to try to destroy Krishnan’s trust also highlighted her absence of due diligence. This is what happens when you prioritize anger over accuracy, as one person accurately put it.
