Effects from a recent poll may explain why CNN, MSNBC, and other spread media outlets have experienced such dramatic declines in popularity since the vote: Most adults are fed up with political information.
The poll found that 72 % of Democrats and 59 % of Republicans report feeling the need to avoid political news, in addition to 63 % of independents.
NORC surveyed parents on several other subjects, such as the economy, foreign politics, and climate change. The results indicate that the only other issues that most respondents find to be limiting their news consumption are international conflicts.
Fifty-one percent of respondents feel the need to avoid news about foreign conflicts overall, including 54 % of Democrats, 52 % of independents, and 47 % of Republicans.
The poll benefits contrast with new low scores for left-leaning broadcasters. CNN, for example, has seen a 45 % drop in prime-time viewership and 33 % overall since the election. MSNBC is over 46 % overall.
CNN finished 2024 with the show’s smallest viewers in background, and its 2024 election day protection had 44 % fewer visitors than its 2020 protection.
Fox News, on the other hand, has seen its scores boom. After the vote, the channel boasted a report 70 % share of the overall cable news market.
The poll also looked at how people respond to companies, sports, and stars making political claims. Nevertheless, the majority of respondents of all political affiliations supported smaller companies making such statements but opposed large corporations from doing the same.
Democrats are much more likely than Republicans and independents to back common political statements made by companies, sportsmen, and celebrities. They are the only party whose variety supports such claims from big corporations, athletes, and celebrities.  ,

Republicans and independents both reported nearly equivalent levels of public support for these remarks, but they also reported higher rates of opposition to independents. The majority of politicians are entirely negative about the situation.
The NORC poll was conducted from Dec. 5 to Dec. 9, surveying 1, 251 adults across the nation from a sample that included 44 % Democrats and 37 % Republicans.
