California Governor Gavin Newsom endorsed Donald Trump‘s softening of the H-1B visa, aligning himself with DOGE co-head Elon Musk, and set social media fire. Some people accuse Newsom of trying to splinter the Republican base because of his sudden support, which has caused a stir among MAGA followers.
Newsom’s article on X ( formerly Twitter ) featured a picture of an article with the article:” Trump supports immigration visa backed by Musk: ‘ I have many H-1B permits on my qualities.'” Alongside it, the Democrat governor wrote,” Good to see Trump accept Elon’s place. Hardworking refugees ought to remain a part of our wonderful country.
He elaborated,” From Silicon Valley to the Central Valley, we are better off when we have contest and top ability – from labourers, construction workers, Directors, and beyond”.
Backers of MAGA had a quick and angry response. Some claimed the motion was unraveling, with one poster composing,” The most radical Democrats are now shilling for Trump. MAGA has been cooked for some time, but now it’s heated to a crisp”.
Some criticized Newsom for stoking the ongoing civil war within the MAGA divisions and urged supporters to stay away from his schemes. ” This piece of]expletive ] is just trying to stir up some]expletive]. Don’t drop for it”, one person cautioned.
A new gap exists in the MAGA basic
The discussion follows a broader discussion within Trump’s internal group, fueled by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy‘s lobbying for emigration visas. Musk just criticized “mediocrity” in British society while liking a blog suggesting Americans lack the skills for tech jobs.
Newsom doubled down on his pro-immigration position, posting hours earlier, “@ElonMusk is best when he said: ‘ you need to attract top talent wherever they may get.'” He added,” The same rule should apply to supporting our laborers, building, and industries staff who create and feed our state. Top talent is top talent”.
As MAGA supporters debate their movement’s future, Newsom’s comments have exposed deep divisions, raising questions about Trump’s evolving positions and the ideological fault lines in American politics.
