‘He was a small-town guy’: Jason Carter shares touching memories of grandfather Jimmy Carter

Former US President Jimmy Carter may have been a worldwide head, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, and the creator of The Carter Centre, but to his home, he was a devoted father first.
In a live interview with Good Morning America on December 29 that Carter passed away at the age of 100, one of his grandsons, Jason Carter, shared his profound memories of his father.
” He’s an exciting man, but he really was a father to me first”, Jason said.

He frequently takes me fishing or sitting down to talk about living with me. When I graduated from college, I asked him,’ What would you do if you were me?’ He told me to join the Peace Corps in Africa, but I did”.
Jimmy Carter leaves behind four children and almost two hundred children and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his family, Rosalynn Carter, who passed away on 19 November 2023 at the age of 96. Their union, which Johnson described as “one of the great American like stories,” was recalled in a photo of them kissing while Carter was president.
” He spent eight years in elections and the other 92 years in Prairies, Georgia”, Jason noted. ” He was a small-town guy who lived out his faith and love, reflected in that image”.
Jason, who plans to deliver a speech at his father’s death on 9 January, spoke of Carter’s enduring reputation. He admired how his father maintained his self-assuredness yet as he reached the pinnacle of power. He said,” Our politics is messy, but he showed that you can be in politics without compromising who you are.”
The Carter Center, the organization Jimmy Carter dedicated over the course of his career to creating, is still alive today. ” There are 3, 000 people working globally in places like Ethiopia, Sudan, and Bangladesh to do the most excellent for the most people”, Jason explained.
