US President Joe Biden is set to glory 19 people with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the world’s highest human honor, at a White House meeting on Saturday.
Hillary Clinton, businessman George Soros, and other well-known characters in different fields are among the consumers.
The honorees were characterized by the White House as people who have made important contributions to society, the world, or the United States. The White House stated in a speech that” these 19 Americans are outstanding officials who have improved the world.”
Hillary Clinton, 77, may be recognised for her years of public services. The former secretary of state, legislator, and first lady became the first woman to win the 2016 presidential nomination from a big party.
Clinton’s identification comes nearly 12 times after her husband, Bill Clinton, received the same dignity from former President Obama.
George Soros, 94, is being honoured for his generosity through the Open Society Foundations, which has supported democracy, human rights, and social justice abroad.
Soros has given billions of dollars to liberal causes and social activities, but he has received criticism for funding some district attorneys and groups linked to contentious protests.
Other honorees include Michael J. Bono, the lead vocalist of U2, and Bono. Fox, baseball legend Earvin” Magic” Johnson, and basketball star Lionel Messi. Fashion designer Ralph Lauren, professional Denzel Washington, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour are also on the record.
The list also includes William Sanford Nye, famously known as” Bill Nye the Science Guy”, renowned primatologist Jane Goodall, and billionaire philanthropist David M. Rubenstein, co-founder of The Carlyle Group.
Another honourees are celebrity chef José Andrés, chairman of the World Central Kitchen, past Defence Secretary Ashton Baldwin Carter, and Tim Gill, a pioneer for LGBT rights. George W. Romney, the later businessman and past Michigan government, and George Stevens, Jr, an acclaimed author and poet, will also get the prestigious award.
Civil rights head Fannie Lou Hamer and former US attorney common and lawmaker Robert F. Kennedy may also receive the award.
The service will honour individuals from different fields like knowledge, entertainment, engagement, and sports. President Biden is expected to show their accomplishments and achievements to the nation and beyond.
