At a White House meeting on Saturday, renowned restaurant and philanthropic José Andrés was presented with the exclusive Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Spanish-American restaurant, known for revolutionizing the snacks scene in the US and leading the World Central Kitchen action, was honored alongside another stars, including Hillary Clinton, Bono, and Lionel Messi. However, a disturbing pictures of Andrés with Ryan Wesley Routh, the person who attempted to assassinate coming President Donald Trump in September, has now overshadowed his moment of triumph.
The shocking photo shows Andrés and Routh, who is accused of trying to eliminate Trump while the former president was playing golf at his West Palm Beach team. When they discovered Routh carrying a firearm despite not firing, Secret Service agents thwarted the death test. The condition unfolded swiftly as Routh fled the scene, dropping his AR-15-style weapons, only to be captured by local authorities.
While the image of Andrés with Routh has raised eyebrows, the cook’s tradition remains firmly rooted in his charitable work. Andrés founded World Central Kitchen (WCK), a philanthropic organization that provides food for people in disaster-trauma. His achievements have earned him a lot of respect, including the 2016 White House National Humanities Medal.
The President Joe Biden-award-winning Medal of Freedom honors exceptional people in fields ranging from science and politics to legal rights and pleasure. Despite the unanticipated discussion, Andrés continues to make a difference through food and generosity in the world.
