Inah Canabarro, a Brazilian woman, has become the world’s oldest living man at about 117 years older. LongeviQuest, a team monitoring supercentenarians, declared her the oldest person with tested information on Saturday. Tomiko Itooka of Japan, the past oldest man, died in December.
Who is Inah Canabarro?
Inah Canabarro was born on June 8, 1908, in southwestern Brazil, according to LongeviQuest. However, her grandson, Cleber Canabarro, 84, says she was really born on May 27 but was registered two weeks later. She now lives in a retirement apartment in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
A Portuguese colonel who had taken up arms during the troubled era following Brazil’s freedom from Portugal in the 19th century was Canabarro’s great-grandfather.
According to Cleber Canabarro, some people thought Inah would never live through her early years because she was weak as a child.
Inah Canabarro, who was a student and worked in Uruguay and Rio de Janeiro before moving to Rio Grande do Sul, became a woman. She taught General João Figueiredo, Brazil’s previous military dictator, and started two going songs.
