Sunny Hostin, co-host of The View, has started a string after comparing the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021 to the Holocaust and enslavement.
Her notes, made during Monday’s season of the chat show, have drawn considerable criticism, with some even demanding her treatment.
The former federal prosecutor compared the Capitol rebellion to traditional crimes, including slavery and the Holocaust. ” When you think about the worst moments in American history, you know, like World War II, things that happened, you know, like the Holocaust, chattel slavery – we need to always forget because the previous becomes preface if you forget and erase”, she argued.
Reflecting on the four-year celebration of the celebration, Hostin, 56, spoke about the need for “moral quality” regarding the mob. A group of Trump supporters broke into the Capitol on January 6th, 2021 to try to stop Joe Biden’s victory by winning the election. The strike led to death, injury, and five incidents, leaving a lasting impact on the nation.
” I think we need to find social quality, you know, in this state”, she said during the present. Hostin expressed worry about the attack’s apparent waning outcry.
Hostin criticized former US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice for urging Americans to “move on” from the rebellion in a past interview on The View. ” I say, no, you don’t walk on, because January 6th was an crime. It was one of the worst events in American history”, Hostin stated.
Many website users accused her of underplaying historical calamities, and she responded with strong reaction. Some users of social media yet called ABC to call her to leave her. ” Sunny Hostin needs to be fired quickly. This is too much. Even for The View,” wrote Paul Szypula on the social media platform X.
Hostin, who has often criticised Trump and his supporters, officially deleted her X accounts following Trump’s national win.
Social media users, especially on X, were quick to respond, with some criticising Hostin for making such notes, trolling her, and yet demanding the present be shut down.
US Vice President Kamala Harris even compared the problems on January 6 to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in January 2022.
At the Capitol, Harris said,” Specific schedules echo throughout history, including schedules that immediately remind everyone who has lived through them, where they were, and what they were doing when our republic was under attack,” which marked the start of a day of activities observing the Jan. 6 attack.
Harris added that some historical times “occupy not only a position on our schedules, but a location in our social remembrance.” December 7th, 1941. September 11th, 2001. And January 6th, 2021″, as reported by USA Today.
The criticism of Harris of trivializing the effects of the Pearl Harbor and September 11 attacks also drew a lot of reaction.
