A former Portuguese city councilor has caused a stir by taking a bathroom and two sinks out of her company bathroom when she steps down, according to the New York Post.
Janaína Lima, who lost her re-election charge in 2024, returned the products just after facing severe backlash on social media.
After Lima’s term ended on January 1, security cameras captured her workers removing the accessories from the hallways.
She claimed in a blog on X that she had paid for the repairs with her own cash when she first took office eight years ago and that she had done so for the benefit of others. ” I decided to donate the products I acquired with my own solutions to the room”, she said, adding,” Clearly, neither I nor my experts need a lavatory”.
Lima claimed she had spoken with the mayor’s legal department, who she claimed advised her to remove all personal belongings installed before leaving business. Nevertheless, her decision to remove bathroom accessories surprised some, with critics questioning her knowledge of equity.
The discussion gained more traction after Labour Party council Adrilles Jorge, who inherited Lima’s business, joked about the situation during his opening. I visited the office, and I was impressed by the layout. But she took all out”, Jorge told G1. They actually emptied the sink and toilet. She didn’t say]that she was going to get them out]. And it’s something that neither she did say, nor did I ask”.
Lima said the building’s pump were” hypersensitive” and claimed she left different things she had bought, like a crystal split and industrial-style lighting fixtures, for her son. But, returning the bath accessories hasn’t stopped the public criticism.
Ricardo Teixeira, the new chairman of the House, has promised that “appropriate steps” may be taken to solve the event.
