Mark Zuckerberg stated on Tuesday that Meta is super-duper apologieetic for times of censoring its political adversaries. He makes no claims because his technical henchman is a huge fan of free speech. They only made a dozen “mistakes” in the process.
That’s about as sincere as Meta’s PR campaign got, with Zuckerberg pointing the finger at pretty much anyone — legacy press,” complex” and “automated methods”, “filters”, political “movements”, the state of California, the U. S. state, authorities, and third-party fact-checkers — except himself.
Zuckerberg apologized rationally in a video message, noting that” the issue with intricate systems is they make mistakes. The reputation internet continued to report on how propaganda was a danger to democracy after Trump first won the election in 2016. Without acting as the true arbitrators, we made good belief efforts to address those issues. But the fact-checkers have just been too politically biased” . ,
Many conservatives are enthralled by the prospect of the next coming of Elon, the lord of free speech. But I find myself more receptive and furious. Donald Trump’s sudden change of heart, which Zuckerberg allegedly rigged and banned him from Facebook, has nothing to do with Zuckerberg’s sudden change of heart.
If Meta follows through on its claims, the land will definitely profit. Moving software staff from California to Texas seems to improve. Even if it’s the bare minimum a social media site can accomplish, accounts not being nuked for calling a person a gentleman and a lady a woman are honestly good and long overdue.
However, censoring the free press and free talk of regular Americans wasn’t a victim-free murder, and its perpetrators don’t just get to give the injured party a “my B”! and continue with their company while the parts are collected from the state.
One of Meta’s most apparent sins was its tampering of the 2020 election, and little, it wasn’t the problem of” difficult systems”. Zuckerberg himself announced in 2021 that his business was permanently banning Trump, the then-president of the United States, from Facebook and Instagram after overwhelmingly funding election offices in the blue places of swing state to run get-out-the-vote activities for Joe Biden. No “mistakes” were made based on” complex techniques” and distorted authorities, a calculated technology billionaire just censored his political opposition.
Before that, Zuckerberg’s dress throttled the entirely true Hunter Biden laptop tale that threatened to harm Joe Biden’s 2020 chances. Because of Facebook’s actions, undecided British voters were deprived of exposure to bombshell proof of the Biden mother’s crooked pay-to-play plan only weeks before the election. In 2022, Zuckerberg blasted FBI warnings for censoring the laptop story, just as he now despises everyone else for Meta’s errors.
It wasn’t just election interference, though. Americans were prevented from finding and sharing non-Fauci-approved Covid-19 information. It’s not exaggeration to say that Facebook’s push for Covid misinformation from the government caused people to die all over the world as Covid panic led to deadly lockdowns. Many patients were prevented from receiving essential care, and elderly Americans were prevented from receiving crucial support systems by those lockdowns. Studies show lockdowns also caused an increase in anxiety, child and domestic abuse, substance abuse, and suicide.
Meta has also silenced Americans for telling the truth about the sexes, abortion, the deadly effects of Biden’s border invasion, and election irregularities. For the reasons listed above, as well as more obscure stories like Pete Buttigieg, the transportation secretary’s phony biker job, were The Federalist censored.
For conservative media like The Federalist, Zuckerberg’s censorship has been tantamount to financial theft. His business single-handedly slowed down many outlets ‘ reach and, in turn, our revenue. When tech giants silence us, the false regime narrative continues to spread, which is not surprising in a functioning constitutional republic because right-wing media exists to counteract the nonstop stream of lies from the propaganda press. However, censorship is also stealing when your business model depends on ad revenue and you can’t just go to Daddy Bezos when traffic slows down.
Now Zuckerberg wants amnesty. Instead of the dishonest captain who toppled the ship down, he wants to eat a tiny bit of crow in exchange for amnesiac friends across the aisle who treat him like the next Elon Musk who swooped in with lifeboats for the sinking ship. This isn’t a real admission of guilt. For the same reason we can’t grant it to Anthony Fauci, Joe Biden, Letitia James, or Jack Smith, we can’t give it to Mark Zuckerberg. There can be no amnesty without restitution and true accountability — for Covid crimes, corruption, lawfare, or, in this case, censorship. It’s too little, too late.
In the end, Zuckerberg wants to win a plea deal in the court of public opinion. He wants to throw his conspirators under the bus and resign as a result of his half-hearted admission to guilt for lesser crimes in exchange for a slap on the wrist and some community service. That’s not justice, and the American people should reject it.
We can all hope that Meta’s changes will lessen the heat in the Instagram and Facebook dumpster fires, but there shouldn’t be an amnesty for Zuckerberg until he faces retribution for his republic-destroying deeds.
