A dog that once worked for the government needs a fresh house that isn’t suffering from the suffering he experienced after retiring.
Ceaser was when a military canine who “gave his all to our state” and was taken in by K9 , Hero Haven , in , Pennsylvania, a house that houses previous working dogs and finds them new homes. But that wasn’t the case for Ceaser and many other animals, the , Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals , ( SPCA ) in , Philadelphia , said.
” When they retired and needed a place to go, K-9 , Hero Haven, a rescue organization in , Northumberland county, offered them a place to settle and find new forever homes”, the shelter said in a , May 24 , Facebook post, back when the dogs were in the process of being rescued and relocated from the location.
” But instead of receiving a blissful retirement, they were faced with the unfathomable. Respected dogs that once gave everything up for humanity now live in filth and neglect.
According to the post, kennels were left with dirty water because they were” covered in feces and blood”. K9 , Hero Haven , was owned by , Ann Gibbs, who was charged with animal cruelty in 2023, WCAU reported.
One of those misplaced pups was Ceaser.
He worked for a contracting firm assisting government and military projects for many years. The epitome of’ man’s best friend,’ he went into every day ready to protect us and our Nation”, the shelter said in a , Jan. 6 , post.
” Once his working days were over, Ceaser expected to retire in comfort. Instead, he was left behind, forgotten, and neglected at K9 , Hero Haven, a place that should’ve gave him respite.
” But then, we rescued him.”
Ceaser is a 7-year-old German Shepherd mix with tan and black markings and a high intelligence, according to his pet profile. The shelter isn’t exactly sure what sort of government work he performed, just that he’s loyal and loving.
” After all Ceaser has been through, he deserves the world. He needs more, the shelter said, despite the fact that he is currently just happy to play in the snow with his favorite toy. After a lifetime of serving others, he has earned the right to rest in a home, to be looked after, and to be loved by a family.
Ceaser would do better in a home where owners have experience with dogs who have been trained in the military.
