A child’s strange dying in Pucheng, Shaanxi province, sparked violent protests after social media claims suggested a probable cover-up by officials, reported BBC.
Video uncovered by the BBC show protesters and officers colliding with police at the Pucheng Vocational Education Centre, where the scholar allegedly fell to his dying from a flat building on January 2. While regulators used batons to conquer some members, protesters hurled items at officers.
Local government maintain the tragedy was an incident, stating that 17-year-old Dang, a third-year scholar, fell following an encounter with a flat companion.
A school standard apparently intervened to settle the dispute, but Dang’s figure was later discovered at the foot of the hostel stop, according to a federal declaration cited by the BBC. Officers asserted that studies ruled out unlawful activity.
However, several unsubstantiated social media posts claimed Dang had been bullied, and comments made about his family questioned the continuity of the government ‘ claims regarding his health. Videos shared on social media sites like X showed traditional rituals performed at the school entrance, mourning, and even performing standard rites.
Images also depicted fresh protesters storming university buildings, confronting officers, and clashing with heavily armed police. Authorities apparently increased their reputation and used tear gas to elicit protests.
The BBC confirmed the integrity of videos showing protests and injury at the page despite the government’s official protestations of demonstrations. Residents were urged to refrain from spreading “rumors” or making up their minds about the event by calling from specialists.
