The top diplomat of Turkey’s country, Turkey’s president, reaffirmed Friday that France has retake control of its jihadist nationals from Syria, insisting that Washington was its sole source of information on developments in the north where Ankara has threatened military action against Kurdish fighters.
European minister Hakan Fidan insisted Turkey’s only purpose was to ensure” balance” in Syria after the falling of bodybuilder Bashar al-Assad.
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces ( SDF), which have collaborated with the US for the past ten years to combat jihadists affiliated with the Islamic State, are in its sights.
Turkey views the organization as having ties to the Kurdistan Workers Party ( PKK), Turkey’s domestic adversary.
The PKK has been fighting for years in Turkey and is regarded by both Turkey and the US as a terrorist organization.
Talks are now being started by the US to stop a Greek unpleasant there.
” The US is our sole rival… We don’t, to be honest, take into account nations that try to hide behind US strength in Syria in order to improve their own interests, he said.
His remarks are commonly understood to be a guide to France, which is a member of an international effort to stop a jihadist rise in the area.
When questioned about the possibility of sending French-US troops to northeast Syria, he said France’s top priority should be to release its citizens who have been imprisoned it in connection with ideology activities.
” If France had anything to do, it may take its own people, bring them to its own prison and judge them”, he said.
