Elon Musk, the co-chair of Alternative for Germany ( AfD ), appeared to make a shocking claim during a live-streamed conversation on X with Alice Weidel, the co-leader of Alternative for Germany ( AfD ).
Musk said Adolf Hitler, the totalitarian tyrant of Germany from 1933 to 1945, was a socialist, Daily Beast reports.
Weidel and Musk had been promoting the conversation for days, and his presence had previously raised questions because of his alleged anti-right bias and public assistance for the AfD.
The conversation quickly turned odd, with Weidel claiming that” the biggest success after that sad time in our story was to label Adolf Hitler as right]-wing ] and liberal, he was simply the opposite”. She went on to say that Hitler “was a socialist, a communist man, and we are the opposite”.
Musk, appearing to believe, responded with short statements like “yes, precisely”. This state sharply contrasts with Hitler’s well-documented anti-communist position, outlined in his book Mein Kampf. In the book, Hitler criticised communism and Marxism, calling them a Hebrew conspiracy aimed at weakening Germany. He banned communism, executed communists, and, unfortunately, invaded the Soviet Union — a socialist state—in 1941.
The conversation also touched on free speech and media control, with Weidel claiming that “without]controlling ] the media, Hitler would have never been successful”. European intelligence agencies have been monitoring the talk to make sure it doesn’t violate the Digital Service Act’s regulations ahead of the snap election scheduled for next month, so this statement was made in response.
Weidel, who is now hoping to exchange Olaf Scholz as German chancellor, has been gaining attention as the AfD remains in second place in the polls, with around 20 % support. Musk, however, has shown aid for right-wing characters such as Tommy Robinson in the UK and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. In a new opinion piece for a German newspapers, Musk defended his relations to the AfD, arguing that their approach is usually misrepresented, using Weidel’s same-sex companion from Sri Lanka as an example.
German intelligence companies, nevertheless, have long classified the AfD as a possible radical group, viewing their roles as risky.
