Seth Meyers, the Late Night number, criticized Donald Trump for criticizing California governor Gavin Newsom for the continued fire in Los Angeles, accusing him of spreading fake accusations.
Meyers addressed Trump’s assertion from the previous time in his speech on Thursday, in which he claimed Newsom had refused to sign a supposedly “water repair charter.” Trump falsely claimed that this document may have permissibly used millions of gallons of water to fight the fires after excessive rain and snow melt had been used.
” Did you hear that? Newsom refused to sign the Water Restoration Declaration, a really genuine report that certainly exists, best”? Meyers joked bitterly. The Late Night number then played a picture from an MSNBC show how the” Water Restoration Declaration” is made up entirely.
Meyers continued,” Of course it doesn’t exist. You may show just from the phrase ‘ Water Restoration Declaration,’ which sounds very f—ing made up”.
He further refuted Trump’s claim that the fires are still burning because of a lack of access to water. ” Of course Trump is lying”, Meyers said. According to him, there is no connection between federal and state liquid control, according to a CNN reality check and a Washington Post article. Some sprinklers are running dry because higher demand causes the water pressure to drop, making it more difficult to move the water near.
Eventually, Meyers shifted emphasis to the society response to the flames, calling it “breathtaking and awe-inspiring”. He emphasized the value of officials acting with sympathy and solidarity in times of crisis, stating that” the kindness, compassion, resourcefulness, and solidarity on screen have been nothing short of amazing.” People are obviously desperate to help one another, which is why we deserve officials and organisations who will do the same.
Meyers even stressed the urgent need to address climate change, stating,” Climate change is real. We must treat it like a issue, because it poses an immediate and philosophical threat to Americans ‘ life and health.
However, he criticised lawmakers for spreading falsehoods about emergency responses. ” However, there are officials who would rather spread lies about the crisis response. And I’m not going to label brands, but Donald Trump. His label is Donald Trump. Sorry, I don’t support it”.
