Previous Labour MP Ivor Caplin, who served as Hove’s member from 1997 to 2005, has been arrested in Brighton following a sting activity by member crime hunting, the Sun reported.
A gentleman, thought to be Caplin, is seen in video that was shared online holding handcuffs with a child.
The 66-year-old was reportedly attempting to organise a meeting with a 15-year-old son when he was detained. Officers surface to remove a bag from the gentleman, who is wearing a red ball cap and a long gray overcoat, before stuffing it into an evidence bag.
Somerset Police confirmed the imprisonment, saying:” We are aware of film that is being circulating on social media that shows a man being detained on suspicion of engaging in online physical contacts with a baby. Officials can ensure that a native 66-year-old male was arrested on Saturday, January 11, and now remains in custody. This is an continuous and effective analysis”.
Caplin, who was suspended from the Labour Party decades ago over” major claims” that he denies, was late in the articles for criticising Elon Musk.
Caplin criticized Musk’s comments about Labour head Keir Starmer and MP Jess Phillips during a television interview next year, calling them” completely and utterly unfound.” He added:” The abuse he has tried to bring on Keir Starmer is completely unacceptable”.
In response to Caplin’s incarceration, Musk posted on X saying,” What a creep”.
