California officials were criticized by US President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday for failing to put an end to the state’s fires that have ravaged the position since Tuesday. He also issued an “incompetent” statement.
Trump stated in a statement on his Truth Social software,” The burns are also raging in LA. The inept pols have no idea how to put them out.” One of our country’s worst calamities, according to historians. They simply didn’t put out the fires. What’s bad with them”? he added.
Trump’s comment have escalated hostilities with California Governor Gavin Newsom, who accused the president-elect of politicising the crisis.
Appearing on NBC’s Meet the Press, Newsom said he had extended an invitation to Trump to explore the affected areas, “in the spirit of cooperation”, but had yet to get a reply. Newsom also criticised Trump’s challenges to withhold federal crisis support, saying such actions may harm the function of first responders.
Trump further claimed that Newsom had obstructed access to water sources because of environmental concerns, which the governor’s office refuted, claiming that no such water regulations had ever existed. In a statement, Newsom’s group said the presidency was “focused on saving life and supporting firefighters, no playing elections”.
Los Angeles’s fire abilities have been strained by the city’s rapid spread and power of fire, which have sparked censure about California’s level of preparedness.
