Pope Francis in his late released memoir,” Hope: The Autobiography”, opened up about his children, describing himself as a “mischievous baby”.
At 88, the Pope reflected on occasions of evil and dread from his youth in Buenos Aires, admitting,” I remember my crimes and I am afraid … I am a sin like all else”, as reported by AFP.
The Pope explored the immigrant story of his family by racially retelling the tale of his European grandparents who immigrated to Argentina in 1929. With just third-class ship tickets, his mother had to conceal her possessions in the covering of her jacket. He reflected on this, saying,” There’s nothing new about it. It’s” a tale of monday as much as one of today,” drawing a line between the continuous problems of workers.
He also acknowledged that he never imagined himself playing this responsibility and expressed his surprise that he was elected Pope in 2013. He stated in his reflection on the day of his selection that he had never anticipated the conclave’s potential impact on him immediately, and that no pope may have possibly come up with the name.
Pope Francis, who has not watched Screen since 1990 due to a pledge made to the Virgen del Carmen, also revealed the little sacrifices he’s made as Pope, including missing out on watching his favorite sports team, San Lorenzo.
” That night I was with my society in Buenos Aires, we were watching the TV, and a dirty image appeared on the screen, which greatly offended me: I got up and left”, he said.
He continued, citing the simple pleasures he once enjoyed, such as taking the subway and walking the streets, as one of the “one of the smaller things that I most miss.”
