Lemire, a previous Associated Press and Politico writer, is the ultimate Democrat publicist, having lied for decades about nearly everything, big and small. He made the false claim that Liz Cheney was being threatened with murder by Donald Trump. He spread falsehoods to deceive the general public into believing that his political preferences would problem. He assisted Democrats in calling out Trump for allegedly “evoking Hitler’s phrases.” And on and on.
Of course The Atlantic, led by continuous conman Jeffrey Goldberg, wanted Lemire. He’s a perfect fit for a magazine that now routinely publishes ridiculously extreme, absurd pieces, such that two times in the same month last year it had to release official statements denying that it had published articles with titles like” To Save Democracy ] Kamala Harris May Need to Steal An Election” and” Trump Is Literally Hitler.” When your “news and opinion” operation has become so violent, but incorrigible that ordinary people may think it actually may distribute those headlines, there’s something of a legitimacy crisis taking place.
The entire newspaper needs to be sucked out, wrapped in prospect, and tossed into some fantastic body of water with a brand that fit. That will occur in due time, but not without the last push it’s now exerting to maintain some influence in Washington.

Former New York publication left-winger Jonathan Chait, who enthusiastically made the vile but very poor state that Justice Brett Kavanaugh attempted to rape a girl in high college despite overwhelming evidence that the claim was false, was added to the team a short while before that. These extraordinary hires come after Goldberg announced in October that it would print fewer issues per year than the 10 it had been printing. Goodie.
The Atlantic is led by a man who has previously extensively disproven and patently absurd stories about how Trump has insulted deceased American soldiers, admired Hitler, and privately denigrated a murder victim. Other than Trump’s embittered former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, who just a few days before the 2024 election decided it was a good time ( several years after the fact ) to claim that Trump was a secret Hitler fan, all of the people who have refuted the allegations have done so on record.
This publication is quickly reserving space for the media’s most hated figures. Time for it to be fully neutered, like the rest of the old media.
