South Korea's impeached prez arrested after tense standoff

In connection with a legal rebellion investigation, impeached South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol was detained and interrogated for time by investigators on Wednesday, putting an end to a weeks-long conflict with authorities. Even though South Korea has a history of arresting and imprisoning previous leaders, his arrest is the first of its kind for a sitting president.
Since lawmakers voted to remove Yoon from his position and remove him from his duties following his brief but valiant Dec. 3 declaration of martial law, he has been confined to his hillside residence, surrounded by a small army of national security staff who had earlier this month blocked a previous arrest attempt. After over 3, 000 officers soldiers marched on his home before sunrise, he turned himself in for questioning on Wednesday at the bribery investigation agencies.

In a speech, Yoon said,” I decided to respond to the CIO’s analysis despite it being an illegitimate analysis,” referring to the Corruption Investigation Office.
Yoon traveled by taxi from his home in Seoul’s Beverly Hills to the imposing CIO agencies with the assistance of a counsel. As Yoon was being interrogated, an unidentified man in his 60s set himself on fireplace outside. The guy was greatly burned and was unconscious. Regulators must question Yoon for up to 20 days without getting a permit before doing so. But, Yoon is refusing to talk. Seoul Detention Center is where additional well-known figures have reportedly spent moment, and Yoon is scheduled to be held there. The arrest warrant was issued by a judge in the wrong control, according to Yoon’s attorneys, and the staff set up to look him had no legal authority to do so. The permit referred to him as “ringleader of uprising”.
