The FBI “assisted on closing the Office of Diversity and Inclusion ( ODI) in recent weeks,” the agency’s statement on Thursday read,” Facebook, Twitter, and Linked In.”

Democratic lawmakers are now critiquing the choice. Earlier this month, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn. ) sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, condemning what she described as “radical” DEI initiatives that she argued had “endangered” Americans, citing the New Year’s Day terrorist attack in New Orleans as an example.
” While the details surrounding this unjustifiable assault continue to emerge, what we know is greatly troubling: the believe was in possession of arms, improvised explosive equipment, and an ISIS flag. The people of our nation deserve to know whether federal law enforcement agencies can adequately stop and listen to such incidents, Blackburn wrote in her letter.” This tragic incident constitutes a overt act of terror on the American homeland,” she wrote. ” To that end, I am deeply concerned that —under your leadership—the Bureau has prioritized Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ( DEI ) initiatives over its core mission of protecting the American people”.

Additionally, Blackburn’s email referenced a report by retired FBI agents that claimed the company’s “law police and intelligence functions are degrading because the FBI is no longer hiring’the greatest and the brightest ‘ candidates.” She also cited the organization’s increased emphasis on DEI initiatives, including the choosing of a Chief Diversity Officer in 2021 and the” Diversity Agent Recruiting Celebration” held in July at the New Orleans field office.
The email continued:
The New Orleans FBI Field company just felt it was important to boast on X about how many beads its brokers had collected in a stunning illustration of tone deafness. Your decision to promote politicians, pop culture, or virtually anything more over your mission to protect the public has put American in harm’s way, and the January 1 evil invasion was the inevitable result.
Simply put, your focus on the FBI’s wake DEI initiatives has harmed our national security and endangered the lives of all Americans. The FBI’s prioritization of diversity over competence shows that their concerns are well founded, and Americans now feel increasingly unsafe as a result of events like the January 1 terrorist attack. Fortunately, the American people have spoken, and President Trump will soon bring law and order back to our nation,”

Blackburn also raised some important concerns about the DEI hiring practices of the FBI. She enquired about the number of employees the Bureau hired through its DEI initiatives, how many were funded, whether any funds were redistributed to them, and how many people were hired at the New Orleans field office’s Diversity Agent Recruiting Event in July.
