In a social media post on Thursday, Donald Trump claimed Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone, and Jon Voight may be his “eyes and ear” in the leisure money. He also said that he would add Hollywood to his fix-it record. He said the aim was “bringing Hollywood, which has lost much company over the last 4 decades to foreign nations, again, bigger, better, and stronger than ever before”!
” It will again be… the Golden Age of Hollywood”! he wrote on Truth Social. Trump’s choice of stars as his “ambassadors” highlights his anxieties with the 1980s and 1990s, when Gibson and Stallone were among the biggest movie stars, and his anxieties with the 1980s and 1990s.
The initiative came as a shock, even to one of the members. In a speech, Gibson said:” I got the message at the same time as all of you and was just as astonished. However, I follow the call”. He added,” Any probability the place comes with an ambassador’s house”? ( Gibson’s home in Malibu burned down in the LA wildfires. )
US production has been hampered in recent years, with losses from the crisis, the union attacks of 2023 and, in the past year, the ongoing fire. US production overall decreased by 26 % from 2021.
Trump referred to the three actors- all of whom have been passionate supporters of the president-elect- as” specific ambassadors” and” specific envoys”, who are usually chosen to respond to stressed hot spots like West Asia, no California.
The shift also reflects Trump’s commitment to neglect his supporters ‘ disputes. In 2020, Vogue made headlines when a fellow artist accused the comedian of slapping him. Gibson has been plagued by accusations of anti-Semitism, bigotry, prejudice and domestic crime. Stallone- who called Trump the” following George Washington”- has faced sexual abuse claims, all of which he has denied. NYT, AP &, AFP
