A Vermont man leaped into freezing Winooski River on Friday to save a puppy from freezing, according to the New York Post.
Chris MacRitchie, accompanied by his home in Berlin, spotted the frightened dog while going through a Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru. He ran down the embankment and into the valley to save the dog.
His son’s brave recovery was captured on camera and shared widely website.
” It was one of those times where you have to make a choice”, MacRitchie said. ” I felt compelled to at least try to get this puppy out of the river, as I have two of my own, and I do wish somebody would do that for them if they were there.”
The film shows MacRitchie, dressed in a T-shirt and sweats, wading through the icy waters as his family encourages him. Despite the cutting cool, his main problem was the river’s level.
” I didn’t know if it was 20 ft or 2 toes”, he said. ” When I broke through and it was waist-high, I thought,’ Okay, this isn’t that bad. Yeah, it’s cool, but I feel this is a really feasible scenario.'”
The crying dog was safely pulled by MacRitchie’s woman, who had already tucked it inside a sweater. The animal’s owner, Morgan Cerasoli, was overwhelmed with gratitude when MacRitchie called her using the variety on the dog’s label.
Cerasoli, who had been searching for Arizona, her 7-year-old rescue dog, since Thursday, described her emotion as psychological. ” I started crying, and I told him,’ Oh, my God, I love you,'” she said.
Then reunited with Arizona, who is recovering nicely, Cerasoli described the recovery as “brave, noble, and remarkable”. She added,” It’s everything we’re meant to be on this Earth”.
