The same rulers whose authoritarian impulses encouraged years of poor decision-making, setting the scene for this recent , Caltastrophe, then say they’ll be there to assist Los Angeles homeowners recover after the fires. It’s difficult not to chuckle. These people were unable to actually keep the water on, much less dig through creating code enchantments to accomplish it. The nature of one-party kings is opposed to reducing legislation to allow for rebuilding. It’s hard to remember a time when this environmental-progressive group of California officials didn’t try to rob, by a thousand regulations and overlays, the rights of almost every home owner, much less those by the beach.  ,

This is their happy day if they’re major about making changes.  ,
How can California officials make up for their errors and bring these people together? I consulted a qualified and active architect from Southern California who graciously offered some techniques to restore LA immediately. His brand has been kept out of the discussion because it appeared difficult to reveal his name as Governor Gavin Newsom or his companions in high places may decide to move after his passport or work approvals.
California’s leaders was even the way to prosperity by utilizing this architect’s advice and a page from Donald Trump’s handbook. But here’s a question: Will Newsom and Bass have the nerve to do what it takes to repair?  ,
Guts. Then there’s a strategy. Talentless governor, Karen Bass,  , was a no-show , when the flames broke out. Even though she was aware that her city would experience tragic winds, she ignored the warnings and flew a trip to Ghana. Oh,  , the area will run itself!  , thought the woman who had never been an administrative at any time before becoming president, unless you count her time as the L. A. book president of the Castro-front , socialist party Venceremos Brigade.
You certainly know how to pick’ em, California!  ,

Governor Gavin Newsom is still being put to the test and is unsatisfied. When it counted, Newsom’s people gut search revealed callowness and , self-centeredness.  , When confronted with the insoluble answer from Bass, Newsom replied,  , Hey, it ain’t me!  ,
The concern about L/R reconstruction Adam Carolla, a blogger and comedian, voiced A for the first time. After losing his house in the flames, Carolla issued a vulgar warning to California’s deep blue voters that they will be churned up in the building governmental apparatus and will vote different afterward.
PJ Media colleague , Rick Moran asked , another great question: Why did it take a crisis to begin asking the right questions about overregulation?  ,
There have been no people in the room—except Rick Caruso, the person you could have had as your president, L. A.  ,

Do you know that when Caruso heard that climate forecast—the same some Karen Bass ignored — the person who developed the high-end Palisades Village complex and multiple other shopping centers prepositioned liquid tenders and put , private , fireplace fighters , on standby to protect his home and his shopping center investments? His properties survived. And yes, they helped save other properties.
Where was the LAFD? Not predeployed, that’s where. And there , wasn’t even water , initially to fight the fires.  ,

Gavin Newsom has issued a swarm of executive orders to shield citizens from the green police, or at least taken a leaf from the Donald Trump’s playbook. They expire when Newsom leaves office at the end of 2026 or the state of emergency expires, unless his successor reissues the executive orders.
Newsom watched last week as Trump praised a businessman who pledged to invest between$ 10 and$ 20 billion to establish factories in the United States to advance AI technology. For background, Trump , vowed , to prioritize winning the AI battle with China because it’s essential to have freer people controlling it rather than people who want to kill and/or subjugate us. That is what one would refer to as a strategic move. As a , tactical , matter, Trump promised to hold in abeyance environmental and other rules to get this done as he did during his deregulatory drive during his first term.  ,
The point here is that if you don’t have a country, money, or hegemony, you , can’t afford the luxury belief , of letting your people , die to save a shrub. Please note it.
The architect claimed that Trump 45 simplified federal EPA permitting, instituted NEPA reforms to speed up environmental reviews, expedited environmental review appeals, and rewrote the rules to speed up permit processing for large infrastructure projects that eventually became known as the FAST 41.  ,

Governor Newsom makes an effort to imitate what Hawaii did following the 2023 Lahaina fire, to his credit. You’ll recall that 2023 fire in Maui. That was when the person in charge of water,  , invoked “equity” to , prevent , any , water from getting to the fire for five hours.  ,

After the Lahaina fire in August 2023, the state of Hawaii had to implement a streamlined permit processing process for nine months.  ,
In April 2024, the special permit , processing program , opened. and a month later, the first building permit was issued.  ,
Before , Newsom ‘s , announced temporary changes and before the publication of this article, our architect recommended some of the things that Newsom has done:
- California Environmental Quality Act ( CEQA ) is being suspended for properties that have been damaged or destroyed.
- Waiving California Coast Act permitting requirements ,
Our architect recommends continuing changes , going forward, but lifting them both through executive action during a state of emergency is great news.
California Environmental Quality Act ( CEQA ) Streamlining CEQA should involve:
Exemptions and Categorical Exemptions: Projects that have few environmental effects or are in line with established environmental laws may be eligible for exemptions, reducing the need for a thorough environmental review.  ,
Ministerial Approvals: Ministerial processes can speed up some projects that don’t need discretionary approval.  ,
Senate Bill 375: This legislation provides CEQA streamlining for projects that are in line with transit priority projects and sustainable community plans.

Our architect remarked on the powerful and unelected California Coastal Commission, which has turned into a regulatory monster.
Reducing review timeslots: To avoid unnecessary delays, we should shorten the process for housing and transportation projects.
Legislative reforms like SB 1077 and SB 689 aim to simplify the permitting procedure for accessory dwelling units.
Addressing Regulatory Overreach: Initiatives to reduce some of the commission’s authority over the law to better align with state goals in climate and housing.
” By addressing these specific codes”, our architect says,” Newsom could help accelerate the rebuilding process while ensuring safety and sustainability”.

Newsom also requested that building departments think of ways to streamline the process. Additionally, our architect suggested that these building codes be altered to make things easier when rebuilding.
1. California Building Code ( Title 24 ): Streamlining the approval process for construction projects, particularly those involving the reconstruction of new structures and infrastructure, could significantly speed up the reconstruction process. This might include reducing bureaucratic bureaucracy and facilitating permit approvals.
2. California Fire Code: Improving fire safety laws and simplifying compliance requirements for new constructions could help make rebuilt homes more able to withstand resurrected wildfires. This might involve updating fire- resistant materials and construction techniques.
3. California Residential Code: By focusing on residential construction standards, such as Section R337, which was replaced by Section 49 of the California Building Code in 2019, home safety standards can be improved. Streamlining these standards could make it easier to rebuild homes more quickly while ensuring they adhere to most recent safety standards.
4. Promoting sustainable building practices while streamlining the approval procedure could help rebuild in an environmentally friendly manner, according to the California Green Building Standards Code ( CALGreen ). This could include incentives for using eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient designs.

Californians should be asking Newsom, Bass, and the Democratic supermajority if they are serious about giving some of their power to the people. Many people have doubts.
The L. A. The fire department is currently inspecting each of the 14, 000 homes that have been damaged and destroyed.  ,
