Following the release of three Jewish victims who had been freed from Hamas control in Gaza, Israel released 90 Arab prisoners and prisoners on Monday. Palestinians gathered outside Ofer prison to greet the prisoners who had been released from the West Bank, and light buses greeted them as they were led through the gates.
The Commission for Prisoners ‘ Affairs of the Palestinian Authority confirmed that the released people were mostly women and adolescents. Israel had detained these people for different security-related crimes, ranging from stone-throwing to claims of attempted murder.
Palestinians criticized the release’s late-night schedule as a purposeful attempt to dampen activities. The Jewish war, which maintains power of the West Bank, issued rigid warnings against common festivities.
Khalida Jarrar, 62, a well-known member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP), was one of the released individuals. The PFLP, a liberal communist organization, was well-known for its attacks on Israel in the 1970s, but it has since cut back on its radical activities. Since December 2023, Jararrar had been held pursuant to administrative detention purchases.
Another notable produces included Dalal Khaseeb, 53, sister of the late Hamas national Saleh Arouri, who died in an Israeli attack in Beirut in January 2024, and Abla Abdelrasoul, woman of imprisoned PFLP head Ahmad Saadat.
This change is a part of Israel and Hamas ‘ first implementation of the Gaza agreement contract. According to the agreement, Israel will release nearly 2, 000 Palestinians and prisoners of war from the West Bank and Gaza while Hamas will release 33 Jewish hostages from Gaza in six weeks.
