Thousands of protesters attended the ‘People’s March ’ on January 18, just two weeks before Inauguration Day, to inform America why President Donald Trump was elected to office and convince them that the region made the right decision. Those protesting the incoming Trump presidency promised to keep the section going by reminding Americans of what distinguishes us rather than what binds us while failing to realize that they had little to really protest.

According to USA Today, some of the protest appeared to still be haunted by the overturning of Roe v. Wade in the U. S. Supreme Court decision in the Dobbs scenario. One activist, Brittany Martinez who traveled to D. C. from Florida, held a signal saying, “Public womb news. My brain, my decision. ” Some yet wore components with the Planned Parenthood brand.

USA Today studies, another participants included “a little woman sitting on her father’s shoulders [who] carried a signal that said ‘pizza rolls no female rolls. ’ Others held handmade signs that said ‘new year, same fight, ’ ‘I’m pissed, ’ ‘feminists Trump fascists’ and ‘Trust Black women. ’ ”

Suffragette-style protesters also joined the march donning sashes that said “equal rights, ” a phrase which they did not explain the exact meaning of other than that the sashes are “just as relevant now as they were four years ago, ” according to USA Today.

Another activist, Jackie Greto, tried to define the purpose of the protest saying, “You think about your mother, your grandmother’s, they all had to fight for the same thing, and you just going up suddenly. And we should n’t. We have younger sisters and daughters and things. What if something happens to them and they don’t have a decision? ”

Deb Caldwell spoke with USA Today about her purpose for being there, echoing the “women’s right ” action the demonstrators felt that they had going for them, saying, “We have to keep resisting and speaking up because silence is dangerous. I’ve became a radical female as I’ve gotten older, simply because I see that women are absolutely one of the oppressed groups, perhaps perhaps the most oppressed team in the world. And it becomes truly troubling to me. I have three grandchildren, and people just need to maintain speaking away. ”

Sarah Wood reflected on her purpose for being there saying, “ I think the next day I was kind of angry, but in astonishment and thought, even erroneously, that it might not be as terrible as I imagined it could be, and it was worse. I can only imagine how bad this new leadership ’s going to be. ”

Activists convened at the Lincoln Memorial to speak speeches and to discover solutions that met their needs ranging from those focusing on immigration to pregnancy to climate change.

Although the terrible and melancholy march was suggestive of the Women’s March of 2017, during which Madonna reportedly said, “Yes, I am unhappy. Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House, ” the People’s March was never meant to simulate it, according to Tamika Middleton, managing chairman of the Women’s March. But, the Women’s March was piece of organizing the People’s March.

Middleton said that the “unique strength of that time, ” referring to the Women’s March, would be a “misstep” to try to imitate, and that this new protest was meant to “move with a different type of goal around not just how many individuals we can get in the streets in that day, but how many people we can walk into the activity for the long term. ”
