Former President Joe Biden addressed followers and workers at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland on Monday evening, delivering a farewell statement on the day of Donald Trump‘s opening. In his statement, Biden emphasized the need for ongoing work and asserted that they’re” never leaving the battle” even after departing the White house.
Biden, 82, spoke as Trump was addressing his personal followers, acknowledging the obstacles ahead and the importance of patience.
” Look, I know from many years of experience, there are ups and downs, but we have to stay with it,” Biden said, recalling his father’s lesson. ” My father taught me the measure of a person is how fast they get up when they get knocked down- and that’s what we have to do best now,” he added to his talk.
” We rarely give up- we’re leaving workplace- but we’re never leaving the battle,” he declared, urging his presidency members to be engaged in various capacities, whether in the public or private sector, or even by running for office themselves.
Biden expressed appreciation for his player’s “incredible” function and said serving as their leader was the pride of his career. The group chanted,” Bless you, Joe,” as he concluded his speech before boarding the Nighthawk 46 plane with his family, Jill, to commence their post-presidential career.
In his last days in office, Biden issued a series of political clemency, setting a report for any leader. He pardoned household members, including his brother James and his family Sara, his sister Valerie and her husband John Owens, and his brother Francis, in response to what he called “unrelenting problems” by Trump and his friends.
Among some pardoned were Dr. Anthony Fauci, who led the US public health response to the coronavirus pandemic, and members of the committee that investigated the January 6 rebellion. On Friday, Biden also announced the decline of words for nearly 2,500 individuals convicted of non-violent drug acts and commuted the death sentences of 37 people to life imprisonment.
