Several “anti-Israel” editors by the Wikipedia arbitration committee faced ban after spreading “misinformation and hate” across the platform, the Anti-Defamation League ( ADL ) announced.
According to the Jewish Journal, the Wikipedia mediation table has been investigating people for’disruptive conduct’ related to changes on Israel-Palestine conversations. The review also noted that two pro-Israel readers are likely to encounter subject restrictions, though the final vote on the matter is expected in the coming weeks.
“We’re pleased that the Wikipedia mediation committee has taken disciplinary actions against some reporters who, in our view, have spread harmful, misleading and biased data about Zionism and Israel across the system. It’s worth noting that several of the main instigators of the battle against ADL are among those now facing subject bans or illegal bans for their behaviour,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL CEO and regional director in a statement.
“As we have said before, Wikipedia needs to wake up to the reality that this is a structural issue across the system that needs immediate actions. There is still a lot more that must be done to ensure that Wikipedia does live up to its plan around the book holding a negative point of view, ” Greenblatt added.
