“These plans divide Americans by civilization, spend taxpayer money, and result in terrible discrimination, ” reads the letter from DHS acting director Benjamine C. Huffman, which was sent out on Wednesday.
DEI has been questionable across the state for years, but came under special scrutiny at DHS following a roughly successful execution effort against President Donald Trump last July. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle came under fire for her variety activities, including a pledge to produce 30 % of the company, which is piece of DHS, women by 2030.
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) called Cheatle a “DE I hire, ” and the 2023-2027 corporate plan from the Secret Service pushed “diversity ” to the top of the agency’s priority list. Cheatle resigned after facing republican criticism at a Parliamentary reading.
The new memo warns that DHS is aware of work by some government workers to disguise DEI initiatives by using “coded or imprecise language, ” and instructing people aware of a change in agreement or personnel placement description change made since Election Day to report it within 10 days.
“There will be no negative consequences for proper monitoring this data, ” the letter reads. “However, failure to report this data within 10 days will result in negative effects. ”
Some La agencies have apparently been given common names like as “community referral ” in an effort to fly under the radar, leading to the law to review. The letter directs workers to report hidden La programs to [email protected].
The DHS letter is part of a larger professional purchase President Donald Trump issued on his first time in office targeting La applications across the federal government. Trump has also rescinded an executive order issued by former President Joe Biden in June 2021 titled “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in the Federal Workforce, ” along with related moves by the outgoing administration.
“Federal employee performance reviews shall reward individual initiative, skills, performance, and hard work and shall not under any circumstances consider DEI or DEIA factors, goals, policies, mandates, or requirements, ” Trump’s Jan. 20 get states.
As of Wednesday morning, all national La workers have been put on paid left, and all DEI-related state web sites have been ordered taken down by 5 p. m.
Each federal agency has been tasked with compiling lists of all DEI offices and workers and executing a “reduction-in-force ” against them. The DHS letter mainly follows a pattern set up by the Trump management earlier this month.
Trump campaigned hard against La activities during his plan and promised to restore merit-based advertising to the U. S. state if elected.
DHS may come in for certain investigation under Trump because the firm is charged with border security, things Republicans say the Biden administration failed at brilliantly when millions of illegal migrants entered the U. S. between 2021 and mid-2024.
