The mayor ofMa’ale Adumim, as Israeli town in Judea, announced on Wednesday that a significant area of municipal land has been renamed” Trump One” ( T1 ) in honour of US President Donald Trump.
” Trump’s second word is a unique chance to develop Jewish areas, particularly in Judea and Samaria,” said Mayor Guy Yifrach. ” We trust Trump and think that he will encourage development in the region in the coming quarter. “
The recently renamed 4,000-acre area, formerly known as E1 or Mevaseret Adumim, lies within Ma’ale Adumim’s metropolitan boundaries and is portion of Area C, where Israel exercises complete administrative and stability control.
Plans to build more than 3,000 homes in the area, aimed at addressing cover scarcity, have been delayed for years due to international criticism, including opposition from the Biden administration.
Mayor Yifrach pointed out the proper value of the area, then called T1, and urged Israeli leaders to create regional stability between Ma’ale Adumim and Jerusalem.
This is not the first day Israel has honoured Trump. In 2019, after Trump recognised Jewish sovereignty over the Golan Heights, a new society in the region was named “Ramat Trump” in his honour.
Israeli officials have even applauded Trump’s new legislation shifts, including executive orders reversing restrictions imposed during the Biden administration on citizens of Judea and Samaria accused of murder against Palestinians.
Other moves include cutting funds to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency ( UNRWA ) and re-imposing sanctions on officials of the International Criminal Court.
