According to police officers who spoke to ABC News on Thursday, a gentleman from Massachusetts was discovered carrying a gun after visiting the US Capitol and leaving the Library of Congress on Tuesday.
On Monday, police in Carlisle, Massachusetts, called the Washington authorities to report an armed man who had traveled to Washington and had shared depressive ideas online.
US Secret Service and Washington Metropolitan Police interviewed the individual after he was discovered in a Washington motel early on Tuesday. Although they searched for a weapon, nothing was found, according to resources, and no further motion was taken at the time.
After that, the person entered the Capitol visitor center after passing a magnet testing there. Despite the magnet triggering an alarms,” an official performed a supplementary hand research, and the person was let into the building”, as stated by US Capitol Police.

The suspect faces claims including” Unlawful Actions, Carrying a Pistol Without a Certificate, Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Resisting Incarceration”. The US prosecutor’s business is handling the case, per the Capitol police statement.
