Elon Musk, a tech mogul, expressed his anger over X’s algorithms on Friday after seeing articles about his questionable behavior at President Donald Trump’s annual rally.
He said,” If I see one more damn Nazi salute in my feed, I’m gonna lose my mind,” after receiving harsh criticism for the hand gesture that many believed to have resembled the fascist salute used in Nazi Germany. This engine sucks! “!
He therefore launched a campaign to insult his critics, posting jokes and videos to defend himself. When a news aggregator inquired whether anyone had also called French President Emmanuel Macron a Nazi, he responded by saying” Seriously” as he responded to a video of him extending his arm from his heart to a crowd.
Additionally, Musk posted a Gif of Arnold Schwarzenegger extending his right arm forward, along with the message,” He’s Hungarian too”, evidently drawing a contrast between the view of his own movement and Schwarzenegger’s activity.
Making light of the situation Musk had previously posted,” Don’t suggest Hess to Nazi charges! Some individuals will ever condemn Goebbels! Quit Gőring your foes! His adjectives would’ve been He/Himmler! Bet you did nazi that coming”, referencing notorious Nazi figures, which caught the attention of the Anti-Defamation League ( ADL).
The ADL changed their position and criticized Musk’s jokes after originally challenging him earlier in the week. ADL quoted a blog that attacked Elon Musk over his” joke” and claimed that “making improper and very offensive jokes that trivialize the Holocaust merely serve to lessen the evil and heartlessness of Nazi acts, belittle the anguish of both victims and survivors, and attack the memory of the six million Jews murdered in the Shoah.”
Previously, the organization had described Musk’s hand gesture as” not a Nazi salute” but an “awkward” moment resulting from excitement, calling for understanding and unity in the face of heightened tensions.
Musk had earlier defended himself by refuting any evidence of connection to the Nazi salute. He criticized the “legacy media” for using “pure propaganda” and compared his actions to those made by Barack Obama, Hilary Clinton, Kamala Harris, and Elizabeth Warren during previous speeches.
