The FBI has detained an Indiana man who allegedly used TikTok to harm US President Donald Trump and use the website to demand crime against the government.
Officials discovered that Goshen resident Douglas Thrams, 23, posted a number of disturbing video on the social media platform this year.
Thrams is currently being held in custody and awaiting a court presence in South Bend on Monday. He has not yet been given legal counsel to defend his claim that hazards are made through interstate commerce.
In a court filing, FBI agent Taylor Pletz claimed that Thrams had posted a TikTok video saying Trump needed to be killed” and this moment don’t… miss,” making reference to a failed assassination attempt in Pennsylvania last July.
Pletz said that Thrams was “visible, loud and identifiable” throughout all the movies.
A global ban on TikTok was scheduled for the social media platform, which went into effect on Sunday. Trump’s suspension of the ban, however, gave him 75 days to assess security concerns and look into possible British ownership of the well-known electronic platform.
