On Friday, US President Donald Trump issued a warning to federal agencies that they must immediately fire employees who work in diversity, equity, and inclusion ( DEI ) programs. This action is one of a number of ferme steps that Trump has taken since he first began his second term in office.
This decree follows the earlier decision to place these people on paid left, and it requires company mind to prepare plans to reduce DEI company employees by Friday.
The US department of personnel administration outlined the choice in a letter, cited by media agency AFP, stated:” Each agency, department, or commission head may take action to cancel, to the maximum extent allowed by law, all DEI, DEIA, and ‘ climate justice ‘ offices and positions within 60 days”.
The memo specifically targeted roles associated with diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility ( DEIA ), and environmental justice initiatives, marking a major transition in federal policy.
The Environmental Protection Agency defines environmental justice as ensuring fair treatment and presence of all people, “regardless of money, race, color, national origin, tribal affiliation, or illness, in company decision-making and another Federal activities that affect human health and the environment”.
Trump criticized DEI initiatives as discriminatory against white people during his campaign for president last year, a state he made to win support for his wider reversal of liberal policies.
The 78-year-old Republican, has also pledged to cut policies aimed at supporting trans people, declaring that the state would only be recognizing two women.
Additionally, the administration urged federal agencies to request information from employees about ways to “disguise” La programs using coded, ambiguous language.
He even demonized gender equality and diversity in the treatment of transgender people, especially people who play sports and receive gender-affirming care for children.
Trump has already overturned an order that was put in place during the 1960s civil rights period to fight racism by calling it “radical” affirmative action in giving national contracts.
His most recent directive is a part of a larger set of measures intended to reshape national priorities in accordance with his liberal platform.
