After the Colombian government refused to accept two immigrant imprisonment flights, US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he would be imposing tariffs and visa restrictions on Colombia.
The President argued that these actions were necessary because Gustavo Petro’s determination threatened the US’ national security.
” These steps are just the start. On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump declared,” We will not let the Colombian Government to violate its constitutional obligations with regard to the popularity and profit of the Thieves they forced into the United States.”
Colombia’s President Petro previously stated that it would not accept US imprisonment airlines until the Trump presidency establishes guidelines for respecting migrants. Additionally, he shared a video of allegedly deported workers in Brazil allegedly walking while restrained on a tarmac.
A migrant is certainly a criminal; instead, they must be treated with the respect that a people person deserves, Petro said. ” I returned the US military helicopters that were carrying Colombian workers because of this.”
Petro vowed to only fly to Colombia and avoid receiving care in the criminal guise.
The Trump administration has increased its focus on imprisonment and border security activities by utilizing active military personnel.
On Friday, two Air Force C-17 cargo plane transported deported workers to Guatemala. Also, Honduras received two separate imprisonment planes carrying 193 people on the same day.
