Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked US President Donald Trump on Sunday for giving Israel” devices” to defend itself. The US president officially authorized the shipment of 2, 000-pound weapons to Israel following this rumor.
Prior to last year, the US leadership under Joe Biden had stopped the distribution of these large weapons because they might be used in densely populated Gaza during a possible Israeli floor offensive. They warned that such actions may have serious human impact.
” Thank you, President Trump, for keeping your promise to give Israel the resources it needs to defend itself, fight our common enemies, and secure a potential of peace and prosperity”, Netanyahu said in a video statement.
Trump received what he called a” important defense delivery,” according to Israeli foreign secretary Gideon Saar, but neither formal gave more details about the approval.
On Saturday, Trump confirmed that a “lot of points” were now being delivered to Israel, claiming they had been delayed under Biden’s management. ” Many items that were ordered and paid for by Israel, but have not been sent by Biden are now on their method”! Trump wrote on Truth Social.
According to reports, Trump reportedly instructed the defense department to raise Biden’s hold on the shipment of large bombs. During his administration, Trump generally emphasised his sturdy support for Israel, calling himself its “best companion in the White House”, a mood frequently echoed by Netanyahu.
The connection between Trump and Netanyahu, but, experienced a burden after Netanyahu congratulated Biden on his 2020 election win, a shift Trump apparently considered hostile, given his false claims of election fraud.
However, a fragile peace in the Gaza fight, which began after Hamas’s assault on Israel on October 7, 2023, continues to hold.
As part of ongoing efforts to stabilize the condition, Israel and Hamas exchanged more captives and Israeli prisoners over the weekend.
