Just one day after it was issued, the Trump government’s Office of Management and Budget rescinded its letter directing federal aid to be frozen.
The ice, announced Tuesday, halted almost all federal grants, loans, and additional financial help to recipients. Before it was going to go into effect, a federal judge briefly halted the ice on Tuesday.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that OMB has rescinded the letter in illumination of the order to clear up any confusion over national policy caused by the court decision and the dishonest press coverage. The president’s executive orders regarding financing reviews are still in full force and effect, and they will be put to strict use by all departments and agencies.
Leavitt claimed that the action really put an end to the ongoing legal battles over the judgement and give the government more time to concentrate on enforcing Trump’s executive orders.
Although the Trump presidency argued that it would not have an impact on programs like Medicare and Social Security, it still sparked a wave of concern in Washington and above.
Matthew Vaeth, acting director of the OMB, issued a two-sentence renegotiation of the support ice on Wednesday, saying it is gone and directing concerns to the basic guidance for various governmental agencies, according to reports.
The letter was rescinded by the Trump White House to “end the dilemma” and “end the order”, a supply common told the , Washington Examiner. But, the source said that testimonials are ongoing and that money will be halted if it’s found to work relative to Trump’s interests.
Skye Perryman, chairman of Democracy Forward, who represented plaintiffs in a petition challenging the attempt, called the policy” a callous disregard for the rule of law and a severe abuse of power” and said it was a “dramatic abuse of power” that would hurt millions of Americans across the country.
Progressives have chosen to hold an urgent meeting on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the attempt, assuring that it is still ongoing.
” Were you aware that Trump canceled his terrible OMB ice? He should now rescind Russell Vought’s nomination for]the Office of Management and Budget ]”, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY ) said. We think they will try to do this again in various ways. Syllabus sat down in my business and promised to do it. The next step to make sure this doesn’t occur is retract Vought’s election for OMB producer”.
Schumer said on X that it’s” no key” Trump did try the technique again,” and when they do, it will afterwards be Senate Democrats it to call it out, fight again, and defend American people”.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY ) posted on X, “FAFO”, an acronym for” f*** around and find out”.
Before it was halted, Vaeth defended the freeze by saying that federal money would be put on hold to ensure alignment with Trump’s executive orders, including those targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.

On Tuesday, Leavitt also defended the action, refuting claims that the order was given on a short notice.
” There was notice. It was the executive order the president signed”, she said. This administration takes into account how diligent Americans are in receiving their taxes. DOGE and OMB discovered$ 37 million, which was on the verge of reaching the World Health Organization. Additionally, they discovered$ 50 million that was slated to be used to buy condoms in Gaza. That is a preposterous waste of money”, Leavitt told reporters.
