, Journalist and social media influencer Yashar Ali referred to a 2021 Los Angeles Magazine report bit about him as “defamatory” and accused the editor and study’s author as interesting in” literary fraud”.
Ali sued the release in June 2022 for libel and bank fraud and asked for a test, along with basic damages, specific damages, punitive damages and the cost of the complaint.
A Los Angeles County prosecutor granted nothing of his requests, rather dismissing his petition while sticking him with the prosecutor’s judge’s fee.
Last year, Judge Lynne M. Hobbs ordered Ali to spend$ 43, 525, which includes fees and court fees.
Calling to Los Angeles Magazine or its attorneys were never returned as well as calling to Ali’s legitimate representatives.
Ali protested a , almost 6, 000-word part published in June 2021 , by journalist Peter Kiefer.
The report — based on many interviews with Ali along with previous colleagues, friends and reporters, according to Kiefer — painted an ugly picture of Ali, alleged the claimant.
In the report, Kiefer referred to Ali as” a force to be reckoned with” and the “scourge of the internet”, who” took down Sharon Osbourne, hobbled the White House government possibilities of L. A. president Eric Garcetti, canceled food blogger Alison Roman, and helped love Harvey Weinstein”.
Ali accused top Garcetti advisor Rick Jacobs of forcibly kissing him in 2020.
Los Angeles Police Officer Matthew Garza had previously charged Jacobs with sexual harassment. Garcetti claimed at the time that he had no idea what the allegations were, and Garcetti settled for$ 1.2 million in 2023.
Garcetti may have lost a position as Biden administration secretary of transportation due to the scandal.
Garcetti eventually served as India’s ambassador.
Although Kiefer wrote about Ali’s influence, he also pointed out Ali’s alleged record of evictions, loan defaults and tax issues.
He also quoted a friend of comedian Kathy Griffin, who referred to Ali as a “grifter” for overstaying an at least six-month stay at Griffin’s Bel-Air mansion.
Ali said there were several “false and misleading statements” in the article, including paragraphs that he said “falsely characterized” him as” careless”.
He lost thousands of followers in the days following the article but currently , has over 700, 000 on X.
