Selena Gomez , was moved to tears over the weekend as the Trump presidency fast-tracked plans to offer on the government’s mass-deportations campaign promises. Her display of emotion did not appeal to some people.

I’ll try anything, I promise”, Gomez, 32, said through tears , in the natural picture. She added an emoji of the Mexican flag and the message” I’m sorry” on the video.
The actor-singer took down the picture after , facing combined censure, then took to her Instagram story to say:” Obviously it’s not okay to exhibit empathy for people”.
The vocal immigration recommend appeared to be responding to President , Donald Trump ‘s , decision last week to reduce long-held rules that restricted ICE from operating at” sensitive sites” such as schools, churches or facilities. Many workers and activists expressed concern about the selection because many of them fear that their children may become traumatized by their parents being detained at school drop-off lines or avoiding receiving necessary medical care out of fear of imprisonment, according to the , Associated Press.
In 2019, Gomez produced a Netflix docuseries,” Living Illegal”, about the continued immigration issue in which she shared her mother’s knowledge. She also wrote a bubbling op-ed about it for , Time , in 2019 titled” I’m Worried for My Country”.
She wrote at the time,” Undocumented immigration is an issue I think about every day, and I always miss how blessed I am to have been born here owing to my home and the joy of circumstance.” Gomez said that in the 1970s her uncle crossed the border from , Mexico , to the , U. S.  , in the back of a vehicle, then her “grandparents followed”, and her father was born in , Texas  ,” immediately after”. The actor-singer, whose family is of European descent, said it , took 17 years , for her paternal parents to acquire citizenship. In the article, she credited her mother’s “bravery and devotion” for allowing her to remain born a , U. S.  , member.
But after posting her video over the weekend, the Rare Beauty co-founder was  , harangued , on social media by many, including , Sam Parker , — a Republican who unsuccessfully ran for , Utah ‘s , U. S. Senate , seat in 2018 — who repeatedly called for the” Wolves” singer’s deportation.
” Selena Gomez , picked laborers over America b/c she’s the 3rd general son of Mexican fugitives who received membership in , the’ 87 Amnesty”, Parker , wrote , on , X. ” She , has an entitlement mindset toward America, like her illegal g’parents. Even Selena should be deported, to”?
Gomez’s fans immediately defended her and attacked Parker, prompting him to , write , Monday on Instagram that he “didn’t own’ wage war against a bunch of … , Selena Gomez , fans’ on my lotto cards today”.
” But here we are. I’m drinking their tears, today. # DeportSelenaGomez”, Parker wrote.
A Gomez rep did not respond to The Times ‘ request for comment right away on Tuesday.
Taste Flav , tweeted , his aid for Gomez, writing Monday on X:” Team , Selena Gomez. Once. Some people bully her because she always has such a fearless courage to share her truth.
Gomez responded later Monday to the back-and-forth, writing on social advertising:” Oh , Mr. Parker,  , Mr. Parker. Thanks for the grin and the risk”.
Parker then , tweeted ,” Selena Gomez , has responded to me” with a laughing icon. Parker has since used his surge in reputation as a way to , promote British nationalism , and Trump’s America First agenda.
” Woke up this morning to me sharing stories w/Selena Gomez , in every media outlet &, on previously SM system, all over the world. Nice. While I have your interest: America is NOT a global security, jobs or training program. Stay home &, build your own countries”, he , tweeted , Tuesday.
Meanwhile, when asked about Gomez’s video, Trump ‘s , border czar,  , Tom Homan,  , said Monday that the administration has” no apologies” for the ICE raids and is only after illegal immigrants with a criminal history.
” If they don’t like it, then go to , Congress , and change the law. We’re going to do this operation without apology”, Homan said on , Fox News. ” We’re gonna make our community safer. It is all done for the good of this country. And we’re gonna keep going. No apologies. We’re moving forward”.
The Trump administration’s new policy, known as “expedited removal”, empowers immigration officials to swiftly deport those who have entered the country illegally without going before a judge— even if they have been in the , U. S.  , for up to two years and are far from the border. The policy, according to , Times reports, could pave the way for mass deportations.
