Each day, it seems like we learn a little more about the fresh Donald Trump administration. On Friday, Trump’s Department of Education made it appear as if it might accept schooling. If so, this is a significant change from the Joe Biden administration, which was vehemently opposed to any form of learning that didn’t involve teaching and encouraging children in public schools.  ,

Trump’s Education Department has a new site on its website, and the very second article, which was published on Friday, is called” Homeschooling: The Lifeline We Didn’t Understand We Necessary”. It’s written by Stephanie D. Birch, a mother of two and childcare recommend.  ,
It begins by acknowledging that each child is special and learns in various ways and at different rates, a notion that has presumably persisted in this region for some time.
I remember how surprised I was when my three-year-old began reading. I quickly realized that the educational plan we had planned would not be able to meet her demands. She had unlocked the secret of studying, and I knew the prescribed informative path would stifle her, leaving her head yuding for more.  ,
We embarked on a positive journey that led to homeschool, the crutch we lacked. It gave us the freedom to create a curriculum that was as special as our children’s, cultivating their minds and hearts, and allowing them to develop into their best self.  ,  ,
Birch goes on to say that she once rejected the myths about self-schooling, but that when she accepted them, her home experienced changes she couldn’t have imagined.
I previously believed in typical myths about homeschool: Children lacking socialization, extremely sheltered, and stuck completing sheets. In reality, homeschooling allows my children to learn, develop, and develop at a rate appropriate for each unique area of study. For the kids who are neurodivergent, creative, or otherwise don’t fit the” traditional” mold, homeschooling allows them to shine. We’ve witnessed our children thrive in things like STEM, art, robotics, landscaping, martial arts, dancing, and traveling to new places where they can indulge themselves in various cultures and histories in ways textbooks alone could not tell.  ,

I will point out that the fine print on the Education Department’s site says,” Blog content provide insights on the activities of schools, programs, grantees, and other learning stakeholders to encourage continuing discourse of education technology and reform. Content do not accept any education goods, services, education or pedagogy”.  , But if the second article is about schooling, I’m going to go out on a limb and say we’re heading in the right direction.  ,
Naturally, this comes just a few weeks after Trump signed the executive order supporting resuming parental control over training and supporting regaining boy’s independence, regardless of their social status or geographical location. And it’s a full 180 from the last management, which wanted to have full state control over, well, just about everything, but mainly education.  ,

Reason magazine points out in an article titled” Biden Wants Schools That Please Politicians, Not Parents” that Biden has repeatedly rejected any form of school choice during the campaign trail in 2020, claiming that doing so would “degrade the entire public education system.”  , Yes, because the system is far more important than the people in it…  ,  ,

In 2021, Biden’s secretary of education, Michael Cardona, was asked by the Senate Education Committee if parents should be in charge of their children’s schooling. He replied,” I believe parents are important stakeholders, but I also believe educators have a role in determining educational programming” . ,
That same year, the Washington Post itself, the most liberal of newspapers, published an opinion piece that asked,” Why are unions and Democrats so opposed to giving poor children a choice in schooling” ? ,
Also in 2021, a Harvard law professor, Elizabeth Bartholet, published an article on homeschooling” and the threat it poses to children and society”. In it, she called for the government to implement a “presumptive ban” on this type of education.  ,
The Washington Times even compared the Biden administration’s attitudes toward parental involvement in their children’s education to Communism. And rightfully so:  ,
The Democratic Party appears to have come out of hiding and completely spied on leftist plans for America’s youngest and most vulnerable: to steal them from parental control to indoctrinate them in socialist-slash-communist-slash-Marxist ideology in response to Attorney General Merrick Garland’s request to FBI agents and U.S. attorney officials to begin looking into parents who protest school board members too loudly as possibly guilty of committing acts of “domestic terrorism”
It’s how Cuba does their kids.
It is how all the Communist countries raise their children.
You think parents in communist countries have an inherent, God-given right to control the teachings of their children?

What a somber reminder of how fortunate we are that the Democrats did not win in 2024.  ,
