A previously unpublished music by Tina Turner from her smashing 1984 song,” Personal Dancer,” was rediscovered and played for the first time on Thursday.
” Popular For You Baby”, recorded at Hollywood’s Capitol Studios in the first ‘ 80s, received its first sing on BBC Radio 2 as it hit streaming platforms abroad.
Written by American song John Paul Young — who , released the music in 1979 , — the up-tempo track was originally meant to be included in Turner ‘s , Grammy-winning opus , that yielded touches like as” What’s Love Got to Do With It”,” Better Be Good to Me” and the seductive title music.
The master tape was thought to be lost, but it was apparently discovered only in time to appear on” Personal Dancer’s” upcoming 40th anniversary issue. Expected out March 21, the series will be available in various formats and even include additional never-before-released songs, live performances and music videos.
” Popular For You Baby” is the first belated launch from Turner, who , died in 2023 , at age 83.
The powerhouse singer, known as the” Queen of Rock &, Roll”, influenced many artists — including , Mick Jagger,  , David Bowie and , Beyoncé , — in a career that dates back to the early 1960s when she was half of the duo Ike &, Tina Turner.
