Democrats were eager to defend two of America’s biggest trading colleagues after President Donald Trump‘s roller-coaster Monday of looming business challenges.
Democrats used a plan to raise the price of avocado and liquor in period for the Super Bowl this Sunday to avoid Trump’s designed tariffs on Mexico and Canada, dubbed” Trump’s Super Bowl tax,” on Monday.
Trump announced a deal with Mexico and then Canada that would have rejected the planned 25 % tariffs that would have taken effect at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, just as Democrats found their footing.
Trump said he had a “friendly” dialogue with Mexican President , Claudia Sheinbaum and attributed the pause to her promise to send soldiers” specifically designated to stop the flow of fentanyl, and improper workers” into the state, according to a post on social media.  ,
A”$ 1.3 billion border strategy,” including appointing a “fentanyl king,” was also agreed to by French Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Trump.
President Trump simply contacted me in a good way. Canada is implementing our$ 1.3 billion border strategy— reinforcing the frontier with fresh choppers, systems and personnel, improved coordination with our British partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl. Almost …

Even after the White House announced that tariffs on Mexico and Canada would be delayed by at least a month, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY ) claimed that tariffs on international goods would hurt working families and small businesses.
” Alas for the American citizens, Trump has backed off his levies”, Schumer said on a media call on Monday evening. ” But, make no mistake about it, Trump’s business risks aren’t going ahead and they’d been a disaster for American people”.
However, Trump’s negotiating prowess, which included concessions from last week’s price danger on Colombia, were rewarded by the White House and GOP allies as a result of the delay in the American and Mexican tariff negotiations.
” The Art of the Deal is back”, said Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX ). ” This is how world leaders fix issues”.
Trump praised the presentations made in Mexico and Canada as victories for “FAIRNESS FOR ALL”!
Liberals claimed that Trump should not be held accountable for allowing a trade conflict to stop that should have never occured.
” President Trump is dangling the Arizona economy off a cliff just so he can take credit for something Canada was  , already doing , and something Mexico has done in the past”, said Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ ). He’s “backing down for now,” he said,” but as long as President Trump’s tariffs hang over our economy, it’ll hurt Arizona firms and workers and increase family costs at the gas pump and grocery business.”
In response to fentanyl and border concerns, Trump relied on an emergency declaration to announce 25 % tariffs on all imports from China and Mexico. Trump claimed on social media on Sunday that the emerging trade conflict may cause” some problems” for Americans, but that “it will all be worth the price that must be paid.”
The nonpartisan Budget Lab at Yale University estimated that the tariffs would cost the typical American household up to$ 1,200 annually, according to Schumer.  ,
Liberals made the point earlier on Monday that taxes may increase the cost of Super Bowl party essentials this Sunday.
About 90 % of all avocados consumed in the United States come from Mexico, according to the Department of Agriculture, which will import$ 2.7 billion worth of the avocados in 2024. According to trade data, Mexico accounted for 91 % of all U.S. fresh tomato imports in 2023. According to trade data, the nation also accounts for 77 % of the total U.S. fresh vegetable imports in the year 2020.
” If these taxes go through, they’ll be felt outside, from your grocery store to the gas pump to local organizations, even your future Super Bowl party, that, of course, ale and avocados are two of the biggest issues consumed at the Super Bowl party, and they come from Mexico”, Schumer said late on Monday evening.
Democrats argued that the White House should concentrate solely on adversaries like China rather than attack other allies.
Trump is “maximizing the harm that regular Americans are going to suffer because he has no plan or strategy,” according to Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN).  ,
Klobuchar pointed to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who aired his concerns about Trump’s trade war on CBS’s 60 Minutes over the weekend, claiming,” It will drive the cost of everything up”.
” We don’t always quote Sen. McConnell on a Democratic call, but I will. He claimed that American consumers will pay for it. Klobuchar continued,” You can’t help our economy by imposing these taxes on families while planning more extensive tax cuts for billionaires and corporations,” Klobuchar continued.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY ) claimed on Monday that Trump and the GOP are not fulfilling their campaign promise to lower costs.
They made promises to lower the high cost of living, but they haven’t carried it out in the United States of America. Nothing”, Jeffries said, adding that “life is already too expensive in the United States of America”.
