The Senate Finance Committee’s candidate for health and human services director, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has received enough votes to progress to the ground voting.
The council approved RFK’s election by a 14-13 voting along the 27 members ‘ party lines. Kennedy, 71, is scheduled to be questioned by the council last week for more than four hours, and he is currently expected to do so sometime next week.
The vote was described as a nail biter, because it was unclear how Senator Bill Cassidy (R-Louisiana ), would vote due to RFK’s history of comments about vaccines.
“ My problem is that if there is any false statement, any affecting of a mums trust in vaccines, another person may die from a vaccine-preventable disease”, Cassidy said. He even questioned whether RFK was” change his views and strategy then that he’ll have the most important place influencing immunization coverage in the United States.”
” This be political. I’m a Republican. … I want President Trump’s plans to succeed in making America and Americans more stable, more prosperous, healthier”, he said. Cassidy was outspoken on supporting many of Kennedy’s” Create America Healthy Once” agenda to combat serious disease.
On Tuesday Cassidy issued a final moment support indicating a party range voting for Kennedy, and , voted with his party in support of RFK’s election.
