HELSINKI: On Thursday, the Finnish government proposed a ban on property purchases by citizens of nations that start war, which would mean that in reality, Soviet people ‘ access to real estate transactions will be restricted.
It advised against purchasing real estate that because “people whose state of citizenship is waging a war of aggression and may pose a danger to Finland’s regional safety.”
Finnish defense minister Antti Hakkanen stated in a press conference that the government has really decided to make a proposal to the Finnish government to outlaw Russian real estate transactions.
He continued,” Our goal is to improve Finland’s surveillance and the lives of the Finnish people.”
Hakkanen said the latest safety culture meant” Russia and Russian citizens and corporations are the ones concerned,” despite the bill’s lack of explicit reference to Russia.
Finland, which shares a 1, 340-kilometre (830-mile ) eastern border with Russia last year blocked several real estate acquisitions by private individuals and companies linked to Russia, citing threats to national security.
The bill aims to stop “large-scale angry influence” like allowing intelligence activities and committing several forms of destroy against Finland, according to Hakkanen.
People with long-term European Union home permits or permanent residence permits granted by Finland would not be affected by the ban.
The government said it” could establish an obligation to apply for a force” to lessen the likelihood that the restrictions may be circumnavigated by so-called fake customers who purchase estate on behalf of another person to cover up the purpose of a purchase.
Parliament is set to vote on the bill later this spring, according to Hakkanen.
